Volunteer 

Volunteer Please note: This is not for court ordered community service. For court ordered community service, please call 561-482-8110.

 

Our volunteers are indispensable. Dozens of dedicated women and men donate thousands of hours in virtually every department of the shelter. Some are here every day of the week, while others come in one afternoon. All levels of commitment are greatly appreciated. If you love animals and like working with people, consider volunteering. For more information call our Volunteer Coordinator Pam at 561-482-8110. We have the following volunteer opportunities at Tri County:

 

Dog Walking

You must be over the age of 21 and have health insurance. No high school students or Community service persons are to walk dogs. This is for the safety of all our volunteers.

Please call the front desk for the Schedule of Orientation Classes at 561-482-8110.You must register by contacting our Volunteer Trainer Pam at 561-482-8110. Class space is limited and space fills up quickly! Please be on time for class! Wear comfortable clothes and closed walking shoes. Please bring $2 for your name badge. You will need to purchase a “Volunteer” shirt for $12 to wear when dog walking. Before you actually walk the dogs, you must provide your own 6’ leash. Walking and socializing dogs, either large or small. You must first take a 90 minute orientation course. Once this is completed, you can be scheduled for any day(s) you are available, seven days a week, between the hours of 8:00-4:30 p.m.

 

Cat Room

You need to be at least 16 to volunteer in the cat room; basically cleaning the cat room and feeding. The cleaning and feeding are done in the morning, so you need to be able to be here between 8-8:30 a.m. Once you are familiar with how the cat room operates, we need volunteers to be in the cat room when we are open for business (11-4:30) to help answer questions from prospective adopters. You do not need to take the orientation class for this position. If you need more information on working with the cats, please contact our front desk at 561-482-8110.

 

Dog Walking and Cat Room cannot be done for court ordered community service hours. Cat room can be used for school credit.
